Pair of Dug Civil War Soldier Sun Eye Glasses, Dug Fredericksburg Battle Area
RARE Civil War Soldier's SUN Eye Glasses, Dug/Excav. Rare pair of original dug/excavated Civil War soldier's dug. In camp area around the battlefield of Fredericksburg, Va.. Found on private land with owner's permission. Very nice item and would make a great addition to ANY CAMP COLLECTION OR DISPLAY OF DUG RELICS. Has a nice dug patina and are in very good excavated condition. The ear pieces (bows) were very thin steel and there is nothing left after 150+ years under ground. Just the very tip of one bow can be seen. Both original lenses are intact which is particularly nice. These are exactly the style worn during the Civil War. Probably the soldier bought the dark lens version to help protect his eyes while in the bright sun of southern camps, forests, and battlefields. Antique Civil War eyeglasses are always nice, and a dug pair is extremely scarce. Then, SUN GLASS LENSES on top of that! These are particularly rare vs. AND A CIVIL WAR BATTLE AREA PAIR!! You will not find another pair like these. This item is in the category "Collectibles\Militaria\Civil War (1861-65)\Original Period Items\Other Civil War Original Items".
