We are offering a RARE 1/4 plate tintype photograph of two Civil War soldiers holding hands. (Possibly brothers) Tintype is in a RARE Union Case depicting what we believe to be a Harvest Dance. Union Case is by S. Motif design of case is by F.

The soldier on the right is adorned with cords and stiff horsehair crest on his cap. We believe this to be headgear worn by Light Artillery.

We also believe the sword he is holding may be patterned after the U. Model 1840 Musicians' Sword that was used throughout the Civil War. The cheeks of both soldiers have been lightly pinkened. The union case has what we believe to be a "Harvest Dance" motif. Three couples in high relief are dancing to the music of a fiddler in the background. Two children also dance to the music. There is a mother watching the dance while holding a baby on her lap. Faces of an older couple can be seen behind the mother watching the dance.

Around the border are stalks of corn, grape vines, olives hanging from a tree, and some kind of fruit, possibly peaches. At the bottom there is a large fruit basket in the center.

There are rakes and some kind of tools with two long handles, not sure exactly sure what they are. TINTYPE CONDITION: Excellent, crisp, clear & bright. CASE CONDITION: For the most part, in Excellent condition. It does, however, have a small piece missing at the top of the back cover.
