Rare 1861 Colonel Ellsworth Union Soldier Civil War Funeral March Sheet Music. This is a rare and wonderful antique Civil War sheet music packet printed by Lee & Walker of Philadelphia in 1861. He was killed while removing a Confederate flag from the roof of the Marshall House Inn in Alexandria, Virginia. A long time friend of President Abraham Lincoln, Ellsworth was awarded the honor of laying in state in the East Room of the White House. After his death, the phrase, "Remember Ellsworth", became a rallying cry and tool for recruiting Union soldiers.

The sheet music bears a colored lithograph of Ellsworth by T. Sinclair's Lithograph of Philadelphia. This litho was after the original photograph by famed wartime photographer, Matthew Brady.

Winner, this sheet music is comprised of three pages written for the piano. This sheet music came from a Capital Region New York estate. This is of note considering Ellsworth was a Mechanicville, New York native and had raised the 11th New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment.

Condition: In overall good condition consistent with age and use. As pictured, the music exhibits toning, foxing, and some staining. There are dings, small tears, and creases to the edges and corners. The front page is detached and the others are split most of the way of the centerfold crease. Dimensions: 14 x 10 3/4 This sheet music is a wonderful relic of the Civil War commemorating a striking event in our nation's history.
