CIRCA 1865-ACQUIRED THE FLUTE IN CENTRAL PENN- RECORDS SHOW A JOHN R THOMAS IN COMPANY D OF THE 214TH PENN INFANTRY DIED FROM HIS WOUNDS JULY 5 1865 AT HARPER'S FERRY- THE 214TH CAME FROM PHILADELPHIA AND LANCASTER- ABOUT THE SAME AREA THE FLUTE CAME FROM -LIKELY HIM- THE 214TH ENTERED SERVICE IN MARCH 1865 AND WERE IN SOME FIGHTS IN THE VALLEY AS PART OF THE UNION ARMY OF THE SHENANDOAH- SADLY JOHN WAS WOUNDED AND LATER DIED FROM HIS WOUNDS IN JULY 1865- RECORDS SEEM TO MATCH THE SOLDIER- THE FLUTE IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION- GREAT COLLECTIBLE.
