Rare CIVIL War Tintype Dated 1864 Named Soldier & Battle
TINTYPE DATED 1864 NAMED SOLDIER & BATTLE. This is a rare and very unusual. Civil War tintype dated 1864. This 1/6 plate tintype depicts a young soldier holding a very large gun taller than he is? He also holds in his right hand a long, almost cigar shaper bag that has been gold tinted?

All his button, belt buckle and pants (faded blue) have been tinted with great subtlety of both tone and coloring. On his right hip hangs a saber. Seems like a lot of armament for such a young soldier. On the inside case cover in faded writing, I think it says Joe Bob Daily, Battle of Anthonys?

Hill, 1864 Note that I make no claims that this is who is shown in the tintype or that it was written in 1864. I know next to nothing about Civil war history, armaments or finding person from this era. Several collectors who have seen this tintype thought he might be an Indian scout.

Again I make no claims & leave it all to the experts. Intricate edge frame and engraved copper insert, and glass are all original.

The leather case is in excellent condition with two complete latches and an excellent spine that was restored on the inside. An exclusive chance to obtain a distinctive Civil War tintype. That will be a fantastic addition to any collection!

This week please see all my listings of other high quality, ambrotypes, tintypes and daguerreotypes many are museum quality. A VERY KIND & KNOWLEDGABLE EBAYER JUST SENT THE FOLLOWING. Not a saber hanging from his belt, that is the scabbard (carrier) for the saber bayonet that is attached to the muzzle of his rifled-musket. What you think is a bag is the brass handle of the bayonet. He definitely is a Yankee infantry private.

He wears a regulation Federal Civil War 4-button frock coat, and a slouch hat. The item "RARE CIVIL WAR TINTYPE DATED 1864 NAMED SOLDIER & BATTLE" is in sale since Thursday, February 09, 2017.
