Up for offer we have A Set (Volumes 1&2) Of The Soldier In Our Civil War. 1886 Approximately 1000 Civil War engravings in the set of two books, many full-page depictions of battles from sketches drawn by Forbes, Waud, Taylor, Hillen, Becker, Lovie, Schell, Crane and numerous other eye-witnesses to the strife. These battlefield illustrations were made for Frank Leslie's Civil War period newspapers.

Frank Leslie's wife acquired his papers after his death in 1880 and published the engraved illustrations in the large format, two-volume work called The Soldier in Our Civil War. Assisted by the most Notable Generals and Commanders of Both Sides. With an Introduction by Robert B. Beath, past commander-in-chief Grand Army of the Republic.

History of the Grand Army of the Republic by Paul Vandervoort. History of the Sons of Veterans by A. And miscellaneous statistics, compiled by T. Large folio volumes, 17 x 12 1/2 inches, bound in original pictorial cloth with gilt title and standing soldier on front boards. Blind stamp to rear boards. Black stamped ornaments to front boards. These Books are Columbian Memorial Editions, Available by Subscription Only. The Do have some creased pages, slightly loose pages. They also show some spine and cover damages.
