Fair-Good overall antique cond: Thr are sm mnr instncs of emulsion loss on the bck of the glss. It only intrrpts the image of the posing soldier on the crnr of his mouth.

The rest of the episodes of emulsion loss on the glass, hppn in the gray bckgrnd. The fancy, ornate Gutta Percha hrd case, w/ornate, hghly dec bas-relief figrtv imgry, is lrgly undmgd excpt for one area, where there's some mnr loss. There are also a fw mnr dings on the edges/crnrs of the Gutta Percha case.

The purple stmpd vlvt insrt's intact & in wll-prsrvd ovrll cond. A rare early US Civil War ambrotype of a'NH boy' being immrtlzd in a photo, prsmbly bfr the beginning of his srvc for the Union Army & a keepsake for prhps a fiancee, wife or mthr lft bhnd. This, as w/all other US Civil War daguerreotypes, ambrotypes & tintypes, may hv bn the last photos of these men while still alv. Dscvrd in a NH estate. Not prfct but still vry hndsm.
