This item is from the estate of Tom & Mary Legore of Finksburg, MD. There were local Civil War Historians and Collectors. They also collaborated with former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and another author with local history for one of Newt's Civil War books.

The Witness Block piece is in a cardboard box with some material inside describing what it is. The piece came from an Oak Tree that was on the Soldier's home property in Richmond, VA.

Take from description with the piece that it is the from the left tree in the pic with the Confederate Veterans sitting under it. There is no certificate of authenticity. The piece has a rendering of the home on the paper it is attached to and then a picture of Confederate Veterans sitting under some trees.

This Antique Witness Block from an Oak tree at the Confederate Soldier's home in Richmond VA is 7/8" tall, by 3.5" across, by 1-7/16 wide.
